The hearing of a case challenging the election of Sirisia MP John Waluke kicked off on Monday at Kitale high court.
Ford Kenya's candidate Levi Makali is challenging Waluke’s victory arguing that the election was marred by a myriad of irregularities.
Levi through his lawyer Amos Makokha accuses Waluke of voter bribery even during the voting day.
He said Waluke instigated violence and intimidation on voters before and on the voting day.
Makokha told the court that there were major alterations of the results from various polling stations to his favour Waluke.
Waluke is represented by senior counsel Kitwa Kagen and Nairobi High courts advocate Antonina Muyoka.
Addressing the press on Tuesday, Antonina said that the petitioner’s grounds are very flimsy and were stage-managed with a purpose of denying Sirisia people their rightfully elected leader.
‘The few allegations of bribery have been denied by the petitioner’s key witnesses before the judge hence we do not see this case going anywhere,’ she said.
‘As an advocate, having gone through all these files, we know that this petition will be struck out since it does not hold water and Mheshimiwas victory will be upheld,’ she added.
