IEBC commissioner Roselyn Akombe has dismissed claims she is set to resign following reports of wrangles at the agency.

Akombe on Thursday said she is determined to ensure the commission delivers its mandate and thus has not thought of resigning.

It was rumoured Akombe and chair Wafula Chebukati were to submit their resignation letters today.

Sources at the IEBC said Chebukati and Akombe have been threatening to thrown in the towel and were set to make an announcement on Thursday.

It is alleged the two are tired of the current political stalemate, which might compromise the October 26 repeat election.

But Akombe strongly refuted the claims terming them mere rumours aimed at creating unnecessary anxiety.

"As you can see I am talking to you. I am giving the plan on what is happening. Do I look like a person contemplating to resign?" she told The Star on phone.

The commissioner, who is a US citizen, has however been in the limelight over various accusations.

She was once detained at JKIA on suspicion she was fleeing the country after the court nullified the August 8 election.

The Star has established that a top intelligence officer ordered her detention by directing immigration officials to bar her from boarding a plane to the US.

This was after the officer realised Akombe had failed to adhere to travel protocol required of holders of diplomatic passports.

She later dismissed these claims and accused media for blowing it out of context.

Early this month, Akombe was also accused of having been in a secret meeting with a lawyer linked to President Uhuru Kenyatta.

A photo was widely shared on social media depicting her in an alleged meeting with Evans Monari at a Nairobi hotel.

Monari represented Uhuru during the 2013 petition for his removal and was part of his legal team for ICC trials.

But IEBC denied the claims.
