Kenyans on Twitter are abuzz following Babu Owino's remarks which were in apparent reference to President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The Embakasi East MP spoke of mtoto wa mbwa

during a rally in Kawangware, Nairobi, on Sunday.

He likened the person to African presidents who held onto power for long and refused to name successors.

"Kama Gaddafi alitolewa na wananchi...kama Bagbo alitolewa na wananchi...kama Yahya Jammeh alitolewa na wananchi...wewe ni nani? Wewe ni mtoto wa mbwa," he told an enthusiastic crowd.

He continued: "Mkikuja na bunduki...mkikuja na teargas...unakuja na nyuki..."

This loosely translates to: "If Libya's people removed Muammar Gaddafi from power...if the people removed Laurent Gbagbo of Ivory Coast and Gambia's Jammeh...who are you? You are mtoto wa mbwa.

"If they come with guns...if they come with teargas...we will come with bees."

There was speculation after a swarm of bees attacked people outside the Supreme Court on September 20.

A disabled boy and a man were stung as police and protestors fled for safety during the attack.

As the crowd cheered, the young legislator further said there will be no election on October 26 unless IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati, CEO Ezra Chiloba, commissioners and presiding officers are removed from the office.

He then handed over to Nairobi woman representative Esther Passaris who attended the rally alongside Opposition leaders including presidential candidate Raila Odinga.

This is one of the main demands by NASA leaders led by Raila Odinga, who insist "a few elements" at the commission engaged in malpractices in the August 8 election.

Raila filed a petition at the top court after rejecting IEBC's declaration that President Uhuru Kenyatta defeated him with at least 1.4 million votes.

'I DID NOT ABUSE ANYONE'

On his Facebook page on Monday, Babu said he will not apologise because he did not mention anyone.

"We have so many presidents in Kenya...from the president of SONU to all presidents of student unions in Kenya, president of the Supreme Court, president of the youth senate and many more," he wrote.

"However, I will stick to objective politics and will never abuse anybody. Let my brothers and sisters from the Kikuyu nation know that I did not abuse their president. One Kenya, one nation.

Lastly, in law calling someone a mtoto wa mbwa (a puppy) is not an abuse. God bless Kenya."

Some Kenyans on Twitter have accused the first-term MP, who was UoN student union leader, of disrespecting the President.

Cliff Wanguthi said: "Babu

Owino

has just proven being learned and being educated are miles apart. [Gatundu South MP] Moses Kuria is no longer alone in the gutter."

Mwalimu Shaffi said: "Babu

Owino

crossed the red-line yesterday by calling President Uhuru Kenyatta a son of a dog. It is unacceptable."

Wycliff Ndege and

Danny Ndegwa also condemned Babu for "calling the President names".

Police said they will study the video clip of Babu's address and take appropriate action.

Babu was once told to change his "campus mentality" if he wants to be taken seriously as a politician.

This followed drama at

an Opposition press briefing on August 11 when some leaders clashed after addressing the media.

While SONU chairman in May last year, the outspoken Babu spent a

night at Kilimani police station

for allegedly assaulting his rival Mike Jacobs.
