Seven people died in a grisly road accident near Timboroa on the Eldoret-Nakuru Highway on Thursday.

At least 29 others were injured in the 5am incident as the bus they were travelling in rammed into a trailer.

Koibatek OCPD Agnes Kamau said the bus driver was overtaking another vehicle in a foggy section of the road and slowed down to avoid a collision with oncoming traffic.

But the bus rammed the trailer from behind as it returned to its lane.

She said among the injured, five are in critical condition at Mercy Mission Hospital. Others were taken to various hospitals within Eldoret.

"We are advising drivers that with the heavy rains, the roads are slippery and foggy in some areas. They should reduce speed and keep distance from the next vehicle to avoid such accidents," the OCPD said.
