NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga has lashed out at the President for welcoming the EABL plan to set up a Sh15 billion brewery in Kisumu.

President Uhuru Kenyatta noted earlier on Wednesday that farmers will largely benefit from the plant that will also see the creation of 11,000 jobs.

But Raila, who is ODM leader, said it was wrong for the President to “ride on the investment plan of a private firm”.

He said Uhuru should have restricted himself to highlighting development projects his administration has undertaken since taking over in 2013.

“They are trembling...the brewery is a private investment, not one by the Jubilee government. Our manifesto was better than that of Jubilee and that is why Uhuru has resorted to launching new ones in Kisumu."

Raila further accused Jubilee

of failing to deliver services for Kenyans and reiterated they are thriving on development projects initiated by the Grand Coalition Government.

“They are bragging about projects initiated by retired President Mwai Kibaki and I. Kenyans are tired of lies. Jubilee has done nothing for Kenyans and will never perform even if it stays in power for 100 years,” he said during a rally in Narok county.

The ODM boss said the government has failed in creating jobs for the youths, alleviating the cost of living and improving the roads infrastructure

“When I was in government, I oversaw the construction of many roads across the country. Some of the road projects have stalled and are waiting for Raila to get back to power to be completed," he said.

“You will notice a big difference if you elect me as your President. NASA has experts who are able to revive the economy”.

EABL said the investment is in line with efforts against illicit brews and key to the company and farmers. The company also noted the ease of doing business in the country.

The President added the company is targeting sorghum farmers from counties like Kisumu, Siaya, Migori, Nyeri, Machakos and Tharaka Nithi counties.

Uhuru and Raila have criticised each other more since they launched their manifestos ahead of the August 8 general election.

The ruling Jubilee Party launched its manifesto on Monday and NASA on Tuesday night.
