Politicians Gideon Mung’aro and

Kazungu Kambi will mismanage resources allocated to Kilifi's development,

Governor Amason Kingi has said.

Kingi said the people should reject the Kilifi North MP and former Cabinet minister when they go to vote on August 8.

He noted they cannot be trusted to manage county affairs

as their leadership credentials are questionable.

Kingi asked how a leader who cannot manage a constituency can be trusted with a county with seven of these.

The Governor warned Mung'aro will fail the people as during his time as MP, he only spoke once while seconding a Bill in Parliament.

He noted being a friend of the President does not make one a good leader capable of putting resources to the best use.

“The national cake is distributed in Parliament, not State House. Being close to Uhuru adds nothing to the budget,"

he said.

He said the county needs

a leader who initiates development projects, not a friend of Uhuru.

The Governor

dismissed allegations that he used public funds

to acquire the governor’s residence, saying the property belongs to the people of Kilifi.

He noted whoever takes over leadership will occupy the residence.

"We know those saying funds were mismanaged to acquire the residence. If they are elected they will even sell the property and pocket the money. They have sold many properties and the public knows this," he said.

In October last year, Kilifi MPs threatened to mobilise residents to protest against the EACC's "failure" to take action against corrupt officials in the county government.

In March, former Garsen MP Danson Mungatana appeared before the EACC over the Sh51 million Kilifi county corruption scandal.

The county boss noted Mung'aro wants to take over on a Jubilee Party ticket which is President Uhuru Kenyatta's party, while Kambi is in a party being sponsored by DP William Ruto.

“Kambi was in URP in 2013. He lost and really criticised Kadu Asili but now wants to become governor in the same party he was against. He just wants to use the party as a ladder to ascend to power," he said.

He spoke in Malindi town on Saturday during meetings with

delegates on NASA's 'adopt a polling station' strategy for securing votes.

Kingi further said the

former CS failed twice as Kaloleni MP and later as minister in the Jubilee administration.

The Governor warned Kambi, who has also served as Labour Cabinet Secretary, against

associating Kadu Asili with NASA.

Kingi, who is an ODM politician,

expressed confidence that he will retain his seat as he

delivered during his tenure.
