Sh2.2 billion will be paid to integrated IDPs in in 17 counties by Wednesday, DP William Ruto has said.
He said an additional Sh1.9 billion has been set aside for a second phase of payment in two months' time.
The Wednesday payment will be issued to 44,500 people, while the second payment has been set aside for 39,000 people.
Ruto said they will not allow a repeat of the 2007/08 post election that left least 1,300 dead and more than 600,000 homeless.
"It is only a fool who learns from his mistakes. Intelligent people learn from the mistakes of others. That is why we have said we shall do all we can to unite Kenyans”, he said on Sunday.
The Deputy President was speaking in AIC Primary School grounds in Ol Kalou where he issued a cheque of Sh382 million to IDPs living in Nyandarua county.
He asked the Opposition to stop engaging in politics that will divide Kenyans and instead preach unity.
"The 'us versus them' politics is not only a slippery, but also a dangerous road. We will not tread that road again," he added.
He chided NASA presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga over calls to legalise chang'aa and busaa.
"It is really unbelievable that in the 21st century there is leadership that believes that the way to move Kenya forward is to engage people in illicit brews," he said.
He asked the church and other stakeholders to work with the government to eradicate alcoholism.
"Our young people need jobs. They need hope. Not what our competitors are proposing," he said.
President Uhuru Kenyatta recently issued out cheques worth over Sh700 million to IDPs in Kisii and Nyamira counties.
However, payments were suspended following claims of fraud after compensation exercise was infiltrated.
The Opposition has questioned the payments and accused the ruling coalition of through the scheme.
