Uhuru highway will remain closed from 8am Saturday until 6pm Sunday for a power supply exercise.
Transformers, cable wires and other items will be offloaded for use in upgrading the Cathedral Kenya power station along the road.
Nairobi secretary Robert Ayisi said the road will be closed at the
University Way and Kenyatta Avenue roundabouts.
He issued a public notice on the temporary closure on Friday.
Vehicles coming from Chiromo will be diverted to the Globe Cinema roundabout, from where they will find their way to the central business district.
Those from Nyerere Road will be redirected to University Way, the Globe Cinema roundabout and then the CBD.
Motorists driving from Mombasa Road towards Chiromo will be redirected to the
Uhuru Highway/Kenyatta Avenue roundabouts.
Those from community, who will want to use the
Uhuru Highway/Kenyatta Avenue roundabout, will divert at the Kenyatta/Nyerere road junction
through Nyerere road.
Drivers
coming from the CBD with the intention of accessing the
Kenyatta Avenue/Uhuru Highway roundabout will also be redirected accordingly.
"All road users are advised to drive carefully and obey signals given by traffic police officers," Ayisi said.
