President Uhuru Kenyatta got a shock when Karatina residents in Nyeri declined his plea to elect Jubilee through the six-piece voting system.
The residents waved signs of ‘No no’ as they waved their hands to decline the proposal. Mathira parliamentary Jubilee Party nominee Rigathi Gachagua was present.
He faces stiff opposition from independent candidates Wambura Wamaranga and incumbent Peter Weru.
Uhuru addressed a rally in Karatina town, where he urged voters to elect senator, governor, woman representative, MP and MCA candidates running on the JP ticket.
He said this will enable them to work as a team. However, the residents were of a different opinion.
“It seems there is something else here, but whoever you will vote for, we shall work together,” Uhuru said.
The President and DP William Ruto are camping in Mt Kenya to woo voters. Nyeri is traditionally known for electing individuals instead of the party affiliation. It seems this time it will be no different.
There was no rejection of Jubilee endorsement in Chaka and Mweiga in Kieni constituency.
Uhuru and Ruto urged voters to turn up in large numbers and reelect the Jubilee government.
The President said his rival NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga is aiming for a coalition government which can be prevented if

local voter turnout is 100 per cent.
Uhuru outlined the achievements of the Jubilee government in the last four years, including the SGR, free maternity services in public hospitals and access to power and water.
They also promised free secondary education from January. The duo

said Raila is only after preaching politics of hatred instead of uniting Kenyans.
