AFC Leopards have grasped former Thika United striker Ray Omondi on a two-year deal in a bid to foster their striking force for the remaining second leg matches and the Gotv Shield.
Omondi, who also turned up for Nairobi City Stars, left for United Kingdom to further his education as well as pursue his international dream and returns to the Kenyan Premier League in the den where goals have been scarce in the first leg. He will be tasked to blend with striking trio of Gilbert Fiamenyo, Vincent Oburu and the newly acquired Burundian forward Alex Kitenge in finding the suitable twin striking up-front preferred at Leopards.
Confirming his signing, Leopards’ chairman Dan Mule said: “We have completed his signing from the United Kingdom and he will make his debut this weekend in the Gotv shield. His qualities are unquestionable and he will bring in the required pace, competition and more importantly score goals. He has signed a two-year long contract and we will unveil him officially together with foreigners Kizito and Kitenge.”
Mule also confirmed the signing of Victor Majid, who is expected to take up Mango’li’s role in the midfield. “Majid has officially signed for us and we hope he will adapt in our system well and produce the necessary impact in the midfield,” he noted.
Mule further rubbished claims that Leopards were on the verge of re-signing their former strikers Kepha Aswani and Mike Khamati from Nakumatt FC and Tusker respectively, terming them as mere rumours.
However, he declined commenting on Dorian Marin’s departure and the appointment of Tom Juma as the interim manager for the remaining bit of the season.
He said: “I am not in a position to give more details concerning Marin’s departure but Juma will be in charge of the team for the remaining part of the season. We expect Dennis Kitambi to deputise him and resume to duty once his leave stint is over.”
