An arrest warrant has been issued against a 28-year-old man who allegedly masqueraded as a doctor at Kapsabet County Referral Hospital after he jumped bail.
Ronald Melly is wanted by Kibera chief magistrate Joyce Gandani after he failed to turn up for his hearing yesterday.
He is facing charges of pretending to be a medical doctor. In the second count, he is charged with forging academic certificates to practice medicine.
He is alleged to have ‘treated’ patients in Kapsabet and at Meteitei Subcounty Hospital.
Police arrested him after he applied to be recognised by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board but the dates on his papers were not consistent.
County records indicate he had performed eight surgeries.
During a previous hearing, University of Nairobi Academic Registrar Bernard Waweru testified that Melly was not a graduate of their School of Medicine.
Waweru said Melly was not in university records as one who successfully completed their studies and graduated in 2014 and 2015.
