Kenya team out to post good results in Bisley tourney

Kenya national full-bore shooting team target to win Her Magesty the Queen’s and Royal Air Force Trophy at the ongoing United Kingdom Imperial Bisley meeting at the stickledown range, London.
A team of 18—16 trigger pullers and two officials—left Nairobi for the UK yesterday for the meeting which commenced on June 16 and runs till July 23. The Kenyan marksmen start their campaign today and will be looking to retain the Police Trophy.
Team coach Solomon Letoya registered his confidence that each of the marksmen will shoot very well in the 148th Bisley Imperial. He said the firers are in high spirits ahead of the showpiece. “We had a good training regime and all is well. We now pray for good health for the team to deliver,” said Letoya.
“This is going to be a great experience for our team. Their rifle have been serviced after a long time and we can only expect better results after such an investment and we thank the Inspector General for supporting the team,” added Letoya.
Meanwhile the team manager, police commissioner Anthony Kamitu, who together with John Sichei traveled as the advance party confirmed that all the 24 full-bore rifles have been serviced and ready for use. “All full-bore rifles are back at the range ready tomorrow’s shoot. Only the small-bore rifles are yet to be fixed,” said Kamitu. Team captain Edward Legei noted that his teammates and himself are keen to surpass their last season’s performance.
Last year’s team (all of whom made to this year’s squad) brought home 62 silverwares including one trophy (Police Service Shoot), a gold medal, a gold badge, six silver medals, one silver (highest possible score) cross, two bronze medals, nine bronze HPS cross and 41 bronze bars.
