SportPesa league contenders Gor Mahia are targeting Nzoia Sugar’s centre half Joachim Oluoch.
According to the club’s assistant secretary general, Ronald Ngala, the two clubs are working on the final modalities to have the stopper join the 15-time champions.
He said the move is aimed at bringing the required depth in Gor squad ahead of the remaining fixtures of the second leg and the Gotv Shield.
Ngala said: “We have contacted Nzoia Sugar concerning Oluoch’s transfer and their response is good. We will be contacting the player once the paper work between the two clubs is ready for personal agreements. Once he agrees to sign for us, we will make it official. Meanwhile the progress is good and it is our belief he will join us.”
If he agrees to the terns and signs for Gor, Oluoch will be the club’s first signing in the June transfer window which closes in eight days time and he will be expected to fight for starting berths along side Harun Shakava and Musa Mohammed, who have established themselves as regular starters for the club in the last three seasons.
Gor have already loaned their youthful midfielder Teddy Osok to second tier club KCB for six months for the rookie to get more playing time and gain experience.
“Once Oluoch signs for us, we expect him to fight for starting roles in the defence. You know breaking Shakava and Mohammed partnership which has been in existence for the last three seasons, will not be easy but again we have seen his qualities and we are confident he will fit in well. We felt we should sign a defender for the remaining bit of the season which is a bit long and for the Gotv Shield. We just want to make sure each department has enough players,” said Ngala.
Oluoch would make his debut by filling in for suspended Musa Mohammed who got his marching orders against Sofapaka in the premier league match last weekend
Gor, who have reached the required quota of foreign signings, are opting for local players to strengthen their squad for the remaining matches.
