The High Court has allowed politician Wavinya Ndeti to vie for the Machakos governor seat.
An emotional Ndeti celebrated on Wednesday after Judge George Odunga ruled she
is an eligible Wiper party candidate.
Odunga noted the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal decided she is a bonafide member of of the party led by NASA principal Kalonzo Musyoka.
He said the
IEBC committee had no power to nullify the tribunal's decision.
After the ruling, Wavinya was spotted making the sign of the cross to thank God.
She walked outside the court with Nairobi Deputy Governor Jonathan Mueke, Wiper officials and supporters who caused a frenzy with dances and chants of 'Wavinya! Wavinya'
Some of the supporters waved placards
reading "NASA na wamama", shouted and blew whistles. Others had banners with the words 'Wavinya for Machakos governor'.

In his address to the people, the NASA DP candidate asked the
IEBC to leave Ndeti
alone.
"IEBC, I ask you again, what is your interest?
Wavinya Ndeti is a member of Wiper. I ask again, what is IEBC’s interest? " he posed.
Kalonzo
criticised the commission
for allegedly interfering with
the party's nominations process.
"This country cannot afford another flawed election for the sake of our children and their children’s children," he said.
Ndeti will face off with Governor Alfred Mutua of Maendeleo Chap Chap in the August 8 general election.
IEBC wanted her barred from the August 8 polls for being a member of two parties.
Through lawyer Paul Nyamodi, the commission told the court she did not resign from
her Chama Cha Uzalendo as required by law before moving to Wiper.
