A two-hour fundraising meeting for President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday night raised Sh500 million.
About 500 people attended the fundraiser at Safari Park hotel in Nairobi and organisers say they hope to raise another half a billion shillings in the next two weeks.
Those in attendance were mainly well known business people who each contributed not less than Sh1 million while others pledged in-kind support.
Uhuru thanked those who contributed and exuded confidence that he will be re-elected.
After the fundrasing, the President offered to pray.
