The race for the next Nakuru county assembly speaker has continued to gain momentum, with Roads executive Joel Maina expressing confidence of winning the seat.
So far, the seat has attracted Zack Njeru, Kap Telwa and lawyer John Githoi.
The seat fell vacant after incumbent Susan Kihika won the Jubilee nomination to run for senator.
Speaking to the Star on the phone yesterday, Maina said he has the capacity to be the next assembly speaker.
“I am very confident I will clinch the seat, “he said.
Maina said with the new crop of incoming MCAs, Nakuru county assembly requires a speaker who will guide the House in making good policies.
He said most of the outgoing MCAs served residents in rented offices, thus spending a lot of taxpayer money on rent.
Main said his first order of business will be to buy land and build offices so the MCAs serve residents without interference.
