Kisumu Senator Anyang' Nyong'o will vie for governor with Mathews Owili as his running mate.

Owili, who hails from Nyakach, said he was ready for the job and promised to walk hand in hand with Nyong'o, raise the bar and play his role in good governance.

"I

fully accept this nomination and take it as a vote of confidence from our

supporters

and Nyong'o, who will be our Governor," he said.

"I

am prepared to be a dedicated deputy and congratulate him on the primaries. I

appreciate him for naming me. This is a great and wonderful opportunity. I

will give it my all and my very best."

Nyong'o was declared winner of the ODM nominations last month after his dispute with incumbent Jack Ranguma. They had both been declared winners.

Nyong'o was declared winner by county returning officer Tom Okong’o at Thurdibuoro Secondary School in Nyakach constituency after he garnered 164,110 votes against Ranguma’s 91,480.

At Aga Khan Hall in Kisumu town, Ranguma was announced the winner by deputy returning officer Richard Kiyondi with 118, 934 votes against Nyong’o’s 32,028.

But

Election board later said chair Judith Pareno said Nyong'o garnered 164,553 votes against Ranguma's 98,573.
