Ten people were injured when an army truck driver lost control and rammed into three matatus headed to Nairobi on Wednesday night.

Three people were seriously wounded in the crash on Nairobi-Nakuru highway,

near Raini center

which is about 15kms from Naivasha town.

Traffic was paralysed for more than an hour as police rescued victims and towed the wreckage away.

The KDF truck is said to have developed a mechanical problem on its way from Nakuru to the city.

Area leader James Kabono said it hit a personal car before colliding with the matatus.

Kabono said the truck driver had tried avoiding other vehicles before the accident occurred.

"It landed by the road," he said.

A police officer who did not want to be named said the casualties were taken to Naivasha sub-county hospital.

“The driver of the army truck has recorded a statement," said the officer.
