Jubilee Party is yet to settle on candidates for Nyali and Mbita constituencies due to infighting that threatens the party's unity in Mombasa.

Allegatins of favouritism and a preferred lineup are allegedly to blame for the delay, despite an announcement of nomination results and adjudication of filed cases.

The Political Parties Dispute Tribunal has ordered fresh nominations for Nyali and revoked the certificate that had been issued to Ashraf Bayusuf.

Bayusuf is competing with Yasir Noor. The party is yet to speak on the matter.

In his appeal, Noor had asked the court to issue an injunction blocking Jubilee from presenting Bayusuf’s name to IEBC as the Nyali candidate and order a repeat of nomination.

“In the alternative for an order directing the first respondent (Jubilee) to nominate the claimant (Noor) as its candidate for Member of National Assembly Nyali for the general election scheduled August 8,” the order read.

Noor was absent when Bayusuf was being handed the certificate at the party’s headquarters in Nyali last week.

In Mvita, despite Jubilee's National Election Appeals Tribunal ruling that Mohamed Tenge be issued the ticket, the party is yet to do so.

Tenge had won another appeal filed by challenger Omar Shallo at the parties tribunal.

“In the circumstances, we find that the complainant dated May 9, fails and dismissed with no orders of costs,” the court order, in favour of Tenge and issued May 11, read.

Tenge lost to Shallo in primaries but had a successful appeal. He cited massive irregularities.

He has fallen out with Jubilee leadership in Mombasa and accused them of scheming his down fall.

But Jubilee point man in Mombasa Suleiman Shahbal denied interfering with the nominations.

Tenge and Shallo confronted each other when both failed to get the certificate.

Their supporters clashed and police mounted barriers to keep them off the offices.

Jubilee politicians who have been frustrated during the primaries have cited powerful hands on their misfortunes and linked it to 2022 national politics.

For Mombasa, it zeroes in to having friendly legislators should Jubilee form government.

When he was being handed his ticket to oust incumbent governor Hassan Joho, Shahbal insisted Jubilee had no favorites and all will be accommodated after August general polls.
