England-based Kenyan rugby player Joshua Chisanga is likely to be included in the Kenya 15s squad to face Germany in a Test match on Saturday at the RFUEA ground.
Chisanga, who jetted into the country last week from his base in Newcastle, played for Homeboyz in their Enterprise Cup semi-final against KCB on Saturday, losing 11-9.
Chisanga started on the wing and had a few brief touches with the ball but later switched to his preferred position at number 8 with Steve Otieno moving to the wing.
Team manager, Wangila Simiyu, said they will assess Chisanga in Wednesday’s final training session. “We will wait and see. We know he played against KCB on Saturday and so we will have to come over for the final training session before the technical bench can decide,” he added.
The Kenya Simbas have been in Cape Town on 10-day training camp, where they played Cape Town-based side, Durbell RFC and lost 26-12 with Patrice Agunda and tour captain Davis Cheng, scoring a try each and Biko Adema kicking over a conversion. The team also held training session with Super rugby side, the Stormers and Western Province.
Simiyu said the training camp was an eye opener and good build-up for the match against Germany over the weekend. “We were testing our system and we received a lot of input from the South African coaches. We are relishing the challenge of playing Germany and featuring in the Africa Cup, which we expect to be competitive,” added Simiyu. He said competition for places is intense after the training camp in Cape Town. “The players have trained hard and they are ready for the upcoming matches,” added Simiyu
Elsewhere, the Enterprise Cup final will curtain raise the Kenya vs Germany Test match on Saturday. Holders KCB will face Kabras in a repeat of the Kenya Cup final, where KCB

prevailed 35-8 last month.

Kabras edged Impala 16-15 with KCB pipping Homeboyz 11-9 in the semis held over the weekend.
The two sides also clashed in last year’s Enterprise Cup final, where KCB won 24-12. The final will kick off at 1pm with the Kenya vs Germany clash taking place at 4pm.
