Social media users in Baringo have denied allegations that KANU party is dead, terming the independence party "alive and vibrant".

They said the claims by some Jubilee Party (JP) nominees in the county that the Party is not in existence are baseless and untrue.

On Monday, Jubilee nominees

plumbed on KANU while receiving their nomination certificates at Kabarnet show ground.

Led by Eldama-Ravine MP Moses Lessonet, the leaders dismissed KANU saying it is not part of Jubilee and that "it is dead and gone".

Their statement came a week after KANU chairman Gideon Moi said the Party and Jubilee had unshaken ties.

Gideon, who is the Baringo senator said KANU is fully behind President Uhuru's election.

However, responding to a story carried by the Star dubbed 'KANU is dead, say jubilee nominees', the KANU supporters jammed the social media (Facebook) with defensive comments.

Jacob Benson wrote....'honourable Jubilee members, style up and respect the seating leaders with their affiliate parties".

"Convince us through your manifestos but not idling on Parties," he said.

Silas Chebon questioned, "why do you announce KANU dead, who killed and where was it buried".

He said KANU is alive, “and if you think Jubilee is yours then you will soon be partyless while KANU is the gateway to the statehouse".

Mike Tallam said; "what mistake did Gideon do, he is our Tugen leader. Bandits issue has defeated Jubilee government, only retired President Daniel Arap Moi managed it....I quote Gideon saying.

Joseph Tirok noted Jubilee aspirants should stop chest thumping... “August is still far to determine..being winners of primaries cannot guarantee because NASA can still snatch the power".

Among the candidates awarded JP certificates were Baringo Gubernatorial aspirant Stanley Kiptis, Senatorial candidate Simon Chelugui

and Mogotio parliamentary aspirant Daniel Tuitoek.

Others were William

Cheptumo (Baringo North), Samuel Kiuta(Tiaty), Grace Kipchoim (Baringo South) and Women Representative aspirant Susan Chesyna.

The ruling party leaders further discredited any party that is not affiliated to Jubilee terming it as 'vague'.

They were referring to Maendeleo Chap Chap, Kanu and independent candidates.

Chelugui appreciated among other Kalenjin tribes Nandi and Kipsigis for supporting the former president Mzee Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi with the KANU for 24 years.

"So it is now high time we as Tugens should reciprocate by supporting President Uhuru and Deputy President William Ruto's reelection in 2017 and thereafter make Ruto President in 2022" said Chelugui.

He bounced on Gideon Moi saying he is always absenting himself from the Senate proceedings to attend his own businesses.

"Senate is not a part-time job," he said adding that he will be a father of all if elected in August.
