Othaya MP Mary Wambui will not defend her seat after losing the Jubilee Party primaries to Gichuki Mugambi.

The one-term legislator said she will not vie as an independent candidate as other politicians have decided to do.

She has been selected as the MP who will compile and send losers' grievances to

President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“I will focus my energy and influence on the President’s re-election campaign. I urge voters to turn up in large numbers on

August 8 and vote for Uhuru and Deputy President William Ruto as they have performed well,” Wambui

said.

She addressed journalists at the Othaya CDF office on Tuesday after issuing bursary cheques of more than Sh15 million to 1,000 bright, needy students.

The MP lost to Mugambi after garnering 12,524 votes against his 20,228.
