Bungoma majority leader Henry Nyongesa has asked county commisioner Joshua Chepchieng to have the leaders behind the Misikhu protests arrested.
On Sunday, a rowdy group comprising more than 50 youths allied to NASA burnt tyres to prevent Deputy President William Ruto from passing at Misikhu market on the Webuye-Kitale road. The DP was travelling to Kimilili to hand over nomination certificates to winners of the Jubilee primaries. Two youths chanting anti-Jubilee songs accused the government of being behind the soaring prices of maize and sugar. They were arrested by Webuye police. Speaking to the press at his office on Tuesday, Nyongesa said the perpetrators are well known. “I first want to thank the DP for coming, but I’m angry because a few leaders want to use our boys to cause mayhem,’’ he said. Nyongesa said the incident was a show of disrespect.
