Parklands Sports Club are keen to record their first win of the season when they battle Parkroad Badgers this evening in a mid-week match of the ongoing Kenya Hockey Union men’s Premier League match at the City Park Stadium.
The side, coached by Kamal Singh, lie second from bottom with two points from six matches while their opponents are placed 10th on standing with six points from five matches. PSC coach Singh is aware of the repercussion in case they fail to impress and he has urged his players to step up and be at their best. He said: “We urgently need to start picking up points from here henceforth. Good results have been hard to come by despite creating chances during the previous matches. For this particular tie, we are going to attack with more urgency and hopefully score an early goal which will help us settle in the game.”
He added: “We are yet to record a win in the six matches we have played this far—only recording two draws. However, I hope we will start posting good results in a bid to evade relegation.”
For Badgers, a win will propel them to sixth place on nine points same as Chase sailors, although the bankers have played one more game. Badgers coach Cyrus Kanyi believes this can be achieved if they improve on their finishing.
“Our main undoing has been our finishing which has seen us drop so many points and we want to work on that. We are going to give the tie the seriousness it deserves and hopefully, bag the three points,” said the former national team player.
