Professionals and elders from Ukambani and the Coast have agreed to rally behind President Uhuru Kenyatta who is seeking a second term.

Health CS Cleopa Mailu

told more than 150 delegates at Maanzoni lodge at the weekend that there is no doubt regarding the development Uhuru has steered.

Noting the comparison with past regimes, Mailu cited the construction of Kibwezi-Kitui road and Thwake dam which will be largest in the country once completed. These, he noted, will open up the region.

The Cabinet Secretary was with

Finance secretary Mutua Kilaka, Economic secretary Geoffrey Mwau, Professor Musili Wambua of the University of Embu and former EACC chairman Mumo Matemu.

The group said the Jubilee administration has done a lot for Kenyans, the Kamba community in particular, in the last four years.

The Economic secretary noted that what jubilee has accomplished in one term is more than what any other government has done for the people of Ukambani.

"It is important for Kenyans to know [Uhuru deserves another term because of his accomplishments]," Mwau told the meeting that Kamba clans

governing council chairman Boniface Kilonzo also attended.

Matemu, who was hounded out of office under the Jubilee administration over allegations of incompetence, said Uhuru deserves another term to finish the projects his government initiated.

"We support Jubilee for what we see. When he was the Deputy Prime Minister, he defended me and lobbied for my appointment as EACC chairman," he said.

Kilonzo, who represented elders from all the 22 clans from Ukambani and Coast, noted the council's constitution says members should support the government of the day.

Peter Mutua, who coordinated the meeting, urged the leaders to preach peace across the country and is this is what the public wants.
