Barchando, Rianyanchabera storm national 7’s finals

Barchando and Rianyanchabera will represent Nyanza region in the national girls’ rugby 7’s tournament.
The two were the finalists during the championship that ended on Saturday but the final could not be played since the programme dragged late into the evening forcing the organisers to arrive at the winner througha coin toss.
In the semis, Barchando, the 2015 regional winners, outclassed Asumbi Girls 28-0 while Rianyanchabera overcame Nyabigena Girls 24-0 as both reached the final without losing a match.
Barchando coach Oscar Owiti praised his team for clinching the regionals. “We started our preparations early and focused on conditioning, set pieces and defence. That is how we won this tournament,” said Owiti.

In quarter finals, Rianyanchabera thrashed Kioge Girls 43-0 as Barchando outclassed J.J Masime’s Ndiru 49-0. Nyabigena beat neighbours Nduru 5-0 as Asumbi beat Ekerubo by the same score.
St Bernard’s Otaro won tie two development championship after a 12-0 victory over Got Rateng. In the semi finals, Otaro beat Nyangoge Girls 10-5 while Got Rateng defeated Nyansakia 21-0.
