The police service is conducting a day-long recruitment of 10,000 officers at
different centres across the country.
The prisons department will also recruit 3,000 officers on May 24.
Kenyans between the ages

The
recruits will undergo a nine-month training at
Kenya Police Training College in Kiganjo and Embakasi's

They are expected to report for the training on May 19.
The Independent Policing Oversight Authority
said on Thursday that it will
closely monitor
the recruitment to ensure it is corruption-free.
The authority
asked members of the public to call 0741
423191 or 0786

More than 150,000 police officers will be required to manage the August polls.
Speaking during the
recruitment at Ruring’u stadium in Nyeri, commissioner Ronald Musengi said the recruits will be ready to serve by the second month.
He said members of the public have no reason to worry as they will ensure police presence is felt everywhere during the general election.
Museng
warned applicants against using forged documents, saying vetting will be carried out at training centres to ensure all those who join the service are qualified.
Those found to have used fake documents will face the full force of the law, he said.
