The electoral agency on Wednesday extended the deadline for political parties to submit names of candidates.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission expects political parties to submit the names of those taking part in the polls by May 14.

The deadline was earlier set for today May 10 but was moved following the ruling by a Malindi High court which extended nominations from April 26 to April 30.

"The extension altered the electoral timelines as earlier allocated," chairman Wafula Chebukati said in a statement.

"This will give room to the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal to complete and determine pending cases before it."

Chebukati, however, urged parties to submit the list of unaffected candidates within the stipulated time.

"The affected parties are required to submit their list of candidates on or before May 14," he said citing that the Kyalo Mbobu team still had 210 pending matters as at Wednesday.
