Wambora takes commanding lead, drowns Mbarire in Embu Jubilee ticket

Embu governor Martin Wambora is headed for a landslide victory in the Jubilee Party nominations after taking a commanding lead over his political rival Cecily Mbarire.

Provisional results from 312 polling stations out of the 478, shows that Wambora took an

early lead with 53, 324 votes followed by Runyenjes MP

Mbarire who has 21,080.

Mbarire

suffered a blow after losing in all polling stations on her home turf in Runyenjes.

In Gakundu polling station, Mbarire got 97 votes while Wambora won with 377. In Kangondi, Mbarire got 11 votes against Wambora's 113.

A survey by Trends and Insights for Africa in March, showed that Wambora is the most preferred governor candidate with 48 per cent.

In the survey conducted between February 16 and 18, some 400 registered voters were interviewed with a margin error of +/- 2 per cent and 95 per cent degree of confidence.

The interviews were conducted face to face with respondents sampled from households.The poll shows 19 per cent of the respondents prefer Senator Lenny Kivuti as governor and 13 per cent support Cecile Mbarire.
