Former Devolution CS Anne Waiguru and National Assembly deputy speaker Joyce Laboso are in the lead as results trickle in from tallying centers in Kirinyaga and Bomet counties respectively.

Returning officers are still combining the results, but current figures place the two ahead of their opponents.

Waiguru is battling for the Jubilee ticket to vie for the governor's sear against incumbent Kirinyaga governor Joseph Ndathi.

In Thiba polling station, Waiguru had 659 votes compared with Ndathi's 162. A similarly wide margin was observed in Mukou polling station where the former CS had 485 against the Governor's 78.

Laboso also intends to clinch the Jubilee ticket to vie for Bomet Governor Julius Kones's seat.

In Nandi Hills, MP Alfred Keter maintains the lead with more than 11,271 votes.

Results are also trickling in from ODM nominations in Homa Bay with Kasipul MP Oyugi Magwanga in the lead with over 3,000 votes, while incumbent Governor Cyprian Awiti trailed far behind.

Kenyans on Twitter are already reacting to result, particularly Waiguru's lead.

Ultrabeam tweeted: "Jubilee might produce two female governors (Kirinyaga and Bomet) ... progressive party."

Some expressed disappointment in Kirinyaga's choice, saying Waiguru has been adversely mentioned in the NYS scandal.

Controversial blogger Cyprian Nyakundi said, "Waiguru is winning Kirinyaga Jubilee nomination proving that for you to succeed as a politician in Kenya you must be a criminal or a thief."
