Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has dismissed claims he bungled the Jubilee Party primaries last Friday. Murkomen, who is seeking to retain his seat, accused Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago and Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi of peddling “lies”.

Sudi was quoted on Friday by some media asking Murkomen to stop interfering with Uasin Gishu county JP primaries.

Speaking in Iten on Saturday evening, Murkomen, a DP Ruto ally, said he is a victim of the shambolic nominations, and should not be blamed for poor work by the party’s National Election Board.

“As senate aspirant, I was disappointed by unpreparedness of the elections board,” Murkomen said.

President Uhuru Kenyatta apologised on Saturday, saying his team was ”underprepared”, not unprepared.
