Fans, family members and colleagues of the late Emmanuel Makori, better known as Ayeiya, gathered in Nyansiongo on Friday to pay their last respects to the departed comic.

Ayeiya, who died in a grisly accident along Magadi Road on Friday April 14, was laid to rest alongside his grandmother who passed on a few days earlier.

The funny man was in the company of his colleague Paul Wakimani Ogutu, actor Maina Olwenya and his wife Alice Njoki when the Toyota Premio they were travelling in crashed into a concrete post.

Ayeiya died while the other occupants sustained injuries and were rushed to Kenya National Hospital.

News of his death shocked the whole nation especially those who had just seen him perform on Churchill Show the previous night.

A funeral service in his honour was held at Nairobi Pentecostal Church (NPC) in Karen where he was hailed as a jolly man who loved his wife and daughter Tamara.

On Thursday, comedian Daniel Ndambuki held a special edition of Churchill Show at Carnivore Grounds and promised to give all the proceeds to Ayeiya's family.

It featured performances from Chipukeezy, Jalang'o, Otoyo, Sleepy David, Eddie Butita, Paul Wakmani, Karis, Owago, Ofweneke - most of whom travelled to Nyamira for the burial.
