ODM communications director Philip Etale

said the changes were due to "reorganisation occasioned by the repeats in several areas across the country where the exercise has been held and hitches reported".

In a statement to newsrooms on Thursday, Etale noted voting was to take place in most of the areas in question.

But he added that the National Elections Board's

review of the exercise which began last Thursday found it had been successful "save for a few hitches".

"The board appreciates the positive response by party members who have continued to turn up in large numbers. This is a step in the right direction," he said.

Some aspirants claimed fake ballot papers had been printed and were already in place while others said they had been marked and

stuffed in ballot boxes.

They included Oyugi Magwanga, Cosmas Kanyadudi and Enosh Bolo for governor. They are running against incumbent Cyprian Awiti.

Others were

MP aspirants Mary Patricia of Kabondo, Martin Owino of Ndhiwa and Washigton Ogaga of Homa Bay Town.

"We want the NEB to come out clearly over plans by some leaders to rig,"

Magwanga said.

“We are well aware these leaders are connected with some officers from Orange House who have already leaked to them the kind of ballot papers which will be used on the day. They have already printed them."

He warned that this was a recipe for chaos as nobody is willing to participate in a pre-determined election.

Ogaga, who is

Homa Bay Aspirants Forum secretary, said the NEB has not informed them of the panel that

will officiate the nominations.

He said the officials must be paraded for the primaries to be free and fair.

Ogaga said they also have not been told

how ballot papers and boxes will be delivered. He demanded assurance that the deliveries will be timely.

But the leaders urged supporters to maintain peace and come out in large numbers to tove.

County commissioner Kassim Farrah said aspirants, whether elected or not, will be treated fairly.
