Jubilee party has postponed Nairobi nominations from Friday to next Monday.

"In response to major representations to the party by the large Muslim community in Nairobi ... [Jubilee] has postponed party primaries from Friday April 21 to Monday April 24," said secretary general Raphael Tuju in a statement on Wednesday.

He said the decision was made by the National Executive Committee in consultation with the party election board.

"Aspirants and Jubilee party members are requested to take note of the schedule of primaries," he added.

The party has staggered nominations over two days after an increase in the number of counties it intends to hold primaries in.

They had intended to hold primaries in one day, but has opted to carry out nominations next Monday and Friday.

Tuju said the number of counties has increased from 33 to 45.

"The NEB arrived at this decision to reduce pressure on all officials and voters. We are committed to ensuring that every place where there is competition, all voices are heard," he told the press on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Jubilee ordered its aspirants to stop campaigns by the next day.

"All campaign rallies should stop on April 19, and all agents should be accredited by April 20," the party said.
