Tana River Governor Hussein Dado does not regret leaving NASA for Jubilee Party as he is "sure" the latter will win the election.

Speaking at Asa Kone during his first rally after the move, Dado said he was tired of having his people in the Opposition, which is "full of confusion".

He said that While NASA has not settled on a presidential candidate, Jubilee is well-organised.

“I will go around the county to notify the electorate that I am no longer in the Opposition that is facing wrangles from within," said the Governor.

“My key mandate will be to popularise Jubilee in Tana River and campaign for President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election and my bid to retain my seat on a Jubilee ticket."

The county chief, who defected on March 15 in Mombasa, added in the address on Monday that he was confident about winning.

Dado accused NASA co-principals Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper) of being a dictator.

During a tour of Kilifi county two weeks ago, Kalonzo

said Speaker Abdi Nuh

was ready to take over from Dado.

“Kalonzo has nowhere to go in NASA. The discord in Wiper started a long time ago after Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua led a massive exodus of more than seven MPs from Ukambani region," Dado said.

He said this clearly showed that Wiper was "leaking" and made him realise that he could not remain in a "deserted house".

The Governor

warned Kalonzo against threatening him saying his decision were for the sake of his people.

“I have been in the Opposition since 2007 but it was a big challenge for the people of Tana River. It’s time to join the government of the day so that we can lobby and demand equity in the distribution of the national cake," he said.

But Dado accused some Jubilee leaders of fighting parties backing Uhuru's re-election.

“It’s time the coalition embraced parties like PNU, Maendeleo Chap Chap, Kanu LPK and others as

the main agenda is to make Uhuru win in first round, Inter-party wrangles will not help," he said.

Dado also defended the heavy borrowing by the Jubilee government saying some of the debts were incurred by previous governments.

“There is no cause for alarm because the government is investing in [evidently] infrastructure. The Opposition should not politicise every bit of development," he said.

Dado defected with Deputy Governor Jire Siyat, Senator Ali Bule, woman representative Halima Ware and a number of MCAs.
