Jubilee summons Wa Iria, Sonko over chaos at county board elections

Jubilee Party's disciplinary committee

has summoned four leaders over chaos in last week's selection of county election boards.

Muranga Governor Mwangi wa Iria,

Kirinyaga's Joseph Ndathi, Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko and Nakuru East MP David Gikaria were summoned on Monday.

Wa Iria is said to have forced himself into the venue with his supporters resulting in chaos.

In Kirinyaga, a meeting ended in disarray

after some of the participants hurled objects at JP officials and aspirants.

A meeting convened to appoint the Nairobi board ended in chaos after two groups of aspirants and their supporters clashed.

clashed after a section of Team Nairobi aspirants alleged that the secretariat had a list of preferred members of the board.

Gikaria engaged in a confrontation with his rival's supporters and was left with bruises.

Disciplinary committee chairman Muchai Lumatete said the party had received complaints from various countries.

Lumatete told journalists on Tuesday that they were reviewing offences raised against the four politicians.

He warned that the repercussions for those found guilty included suspension, expulsion and fines.

The chairman warned the four against defying the summons, saying this could result in getting blacklisted by the party.

Jubilee secretary general Raphael Tuju said the party will continue promoting its core values

across the country.

Tuju asked all aspirants to go to the party's headquarters to verify their details and correct errors in their registration​.

"The schedule of aspirants verifying their information has commenced and this will end on Thursday," he said.

"We requested President Uhuru Kenyatta to cancel his engagements in various places this week

to allow aspirants time to verify their particulars because after Thursday we will start printing ballot papers."
