Nairobi governor hopeful Peter Kenneth has said that only nominations will end the "war" between him and Senator Mike Sonko.

Kenneth ruled out any negotiations with the senator, his fierce competitor for the Jubilee Party ticket, and said he is ready for the primaries.

"We are ready for nominations because that is the only way all these things can be solved once and for all," he said.

Kenneth told journalists after attending Sunday service at Githurai PCEA church that he will start grassroot campaigns on Monday.

He said this will be in readiness for April primaries, adding that they succeeded in forming the Nairobi JP county elections board.

The process was marred by chaos on Thursday after his supporters and Sonko's clashed at the Bomas of Kenya.

The two politicians differed on the board’s membership.

"The elections board is in place. What we are waiting for are the election rules. Once we get that, then we shall hit the ground running," the former Gatanga MP said.

He was accompanied by Roysambu MP Ndirangu Waihenya, his Kasarani counterpart John Njoroge and a host of MP and MCA aspirants.

"On Monday, we will launch grass root campaigns for the president, deputy president William Ruto and for ourselves."

"We want to bring all the aspirants together so that we go into nominations peacefully," Kenneth said.

Kenneth and team Nairobi led by Sonko have been at loggerheads over the party’s ticket for the governor race.

Sonko says that the former legislator is an 'outsider' who does not understand the needs of Nairobi county residents.

But Kenneth has maintained that he was born and brought up in Nairobi and vowed to soldier on till the end.

In a recent interview, the Nairobi senator said his feud with Kenneth is personal, citing the 2013 general election alignments.

At that time, Kenneth contested the presidency against 8 other aspirants including President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM's Raila Odinga.
