Ugandan's assistant IG Felix Kaweesi will be buried on Tuesday at his ancestral home in Kyazanga, Lwengo district after a midday mass in his honour.
Kaweesi was assassinated by gunmen on motorcycles after leaving his home in Kampala last Friday.
His bodyguard Corporal Kenneth Erau and driver Constable Geoffrey Mambewa were also shot and killed by the unknown people.
Erau and Mambewa buried at their respective homes on Monday.
President Yoweri Museveni condemned the attack and ordered the installation of surveillance cameras in major towns and on highways.
"Uganda's army should be alert to anybody who seems to be a threat. Anything suspicious...take action immediately," he said at Kaweesi's home on Monday.
"We shall get them...we shall kill or capture them. If they don't want to die they should surrender."
Inspector General of Police Kale Kayihura said Kaweesi was dedicated to his work and stood out.
"We took a decision in the police [department], and we are supported by the church, to celebrate the life of Kaweesi instead of mourning him," Kayihura
said.
"Generals never die, they just fade away. It is the spirit that counts and his spirit will certainly
never die."
He said Kaweesi's death will motivate police to work harder in dealing with crime.
Buganda Katikiro Peter Mayiga said anyone could be next.
"Many Ugandans, including me, now live in fear," Mayiga said but called
for dialogue and reconciliation to end bloodshed.
Kaweesi left behind an expectant wife and three children.
He once served as head of police operations in greater Kampala and gained prominence for overseeing frequent arrests of Uganda's main opposition leader Kizza Besigye.
Kaweesi
was the second senior police official to be assassinated. In November last year, Ugandan major Sulaiman Kiggundu and his bodyguard sergeant Steven Mukasa were shot dead by men on motorcycles along Masanafu road, Kampala.
