Two bodies, suspected to be a husband and wife were on Sunday morning found dumped off the Naivasha-Mai Mahiu road.

The two were strangled using a wire, stripped naked and doused with a suspected chemical.

Shocked residents

believe that the couple were murdered elsewhere and their bodies ferried to the abandoned field, few kilometres from Mt Longonot national park.

This brings to seven the number of people who have been murdered and dumped along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway and Naivasha-Mai Mahiu road since the year began.

The bodies were discovered by herders who informed local leaders and the police.

“This land is used by herders seeking pastures for their animals and they are the ones who spotted the bodies and informed the police,” a local leader James Muturi said.

He said that there was proof that they were strangled using a wire and doused with some chemicals on their backs before been dumped in the area.

A senior police officer who declined to be named confirmed the incident adding that the bodies had been collected and taken to the local mortuary.

“The bodies are in their 40s, there were no identification documents and it’s obvious that they were murdered elsewhere and later driven here,” said the officer.

In January, the bodies of two young men suspected to have been killed at an unknown place were found dumped in Kinenie Forest on the same road.

They were discovered by maize vendors looking for firewood.

Police boss Dorothy Nahashon said the two are yet to be identified.

The bodies were taken to Naivasha Subcounty Hospital mortuary.
