Police in Nakuru on Thursday recovered a HK21 machine gun, a Ceska pistol and 42 rounds of ammunition during a sting operation.

The weapons were recovered in Ahero village, Bahati sub-county following a robbery where three women were raped and household goods stolen.

Nakuru county police commander Hassan Rashid told the Star on Friday a suspect they got information of the weapons from a suspect arrested following the incident.

The robbery, according to the officer, was executed by three armed men.

Police also recovered a training certificate and a sack stitching machine which had been stolen in Bahati.

Barua said that three suspects were arrested in connection with the incident and will be taken to court as soon the investigations are complete.

He added that police have obtained useful information that will assist them to arrest others linked to the gang.

The recovery comes in the wake of a crime wave that has hit Bahati area, culminating in a series of robberies.

The suspects were taken to Nakuru central police station for interrogation.
