Twenty four students allegedly caught having sex, smoking and drinking alcohol were arrested in Eldoret on Wednesday.

The students from various schools were celebrating a birthday party at

Kapsoya estate. Police raided the location after residents alerted them.

Kapsoya OCS Daniel Sindindi said they found condoms and mattresses in the house.

"We are investigating the incident.

We are also looking for the owner of the house where the students were gathered," said Sidindi.

He added that the students' parents were also summoned to hep with investigations.

All public schools are on a mid-term break.

Muslim Preachers and Imams in Rift Valley have cautioned that the lecturers' strike may lead to increased cases of abuse of drugs, alcohol and pregnancies.

Regional chairman Abubakar Bini said Education CS Fred Matiang'i should look for quick solutions so that learning can resume.

In 2015,

500 students were arrested at a disco hall in Eldoret, on suspicion of engaging in sex and drug abuse.

The Alcohol Drinks Control Board, conducted the raid on Sam's Discotheque, where several rolls of bang, condoms and alcohol were confiscated from the students.

At the time of the raid, the lights of the hall had been switched off, allegedly to allow the students to engage in sex.

Some of the boys taken into custody alleged that they were sodimised during the orgy.
