A group of herders on Tuesday stumbled upon the body of a middle-aged man in Kinale forest, Kijabe along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.

Residents believe that the man, who had a wire around his neck, was strangled elsewhere before his body was dumped in the forest.

The incident follows in the wake of one where bodies of four men were found abandoned in a Probox car at a garage in Gitaru.

Simon Kimani, a resident, said the half-naked body - which was collected by officers from Kijabe police station - had scratches on the face.

"There were no identification documents on the body," Kimani said, adding that they are worried about the high number of bodies being dumped in the region.

A senior police officer who declined to be named said the body was taken to Naivasha hospital mortuary.

Last year, over ten bodies - majority of them men - were found dumped in parts of the forest.

The latest incident has sparked fear and anxiety among area residents.
