Nairobi governor hopeful Peter Kenneth has cautioned his competitors against hiring goons to disrupt his rallies.

The former Gatanga MP said

on Sunday that he has experienced hostility

following claims that he is an 'outsider'.

Kenneth hails from Murang'a but was born and raised in Nairobi.

"We have seen incidents

in the past few weeks

where goons are used to cause chaos. Let us exercise tolerance," he said.

"Elections are competitive and we all must be positive about them," he said during a service at Redeemed Gospel Church in Huruma.

This was in apparent reference to a faction allied to Senator Mike Sonko, which is in competition with Kenneth for the Jubilee ticket.

Sonko is working with MPs Dennis Waweru (Dagoretti South), Johnson Sakaja (Nominated) and former Starehe MP Margaret Wanjiru.

The four want JP nominations conducted through universal suffrage to get a candidate fit to fight it out with ODM's Evans Kidero.

Kenneth, a Jubilee hopeful, said he was ready to work with whoever wins the party's ticket in the race for the county's top seat.

"I have a masterplan to bring order in Nairobi. We want to decongest the city, clean it and restore sanity," he said.

"As you can see, roads in Nairobi, the environment and many other aspects that make a city habitable, are in disarray."

Following criticism by his rivals, Murang'a leaders came to Kenneth's defence saying 'Team Nairobi' should not intimidate him.

The leaders said Nairobi is a metropolitan region where anyone can seek elective posts and other leadership positions.
