Cases of fire outbreaks are on the rise in Naivasha and the dry weather has worsened the situation.

On Tuesday, 50 flower farm workers were left homeless after fire broke out in Kasarani Estate.

Witness James Ochido said nothing was salvaged. “The fire started in one house and the strong winds made it spread very fast, burning other houses to ashes.”

On the same day, another fire broke out near Gatamaiyu trading centre.

Elsewhere, cases of bush meat trade are on the rise in Naivasha with the drought crisis.

In the last week, KWS officers have recovered 300kg of game meat and arrested four suspects.

A 65-year-old man was arrested in Kongoni after 100kg of zebra meat was found in his house.
