President Uhuru Kenyatta steered clear of the Meru political feud between Governor Peter Munya and Senator Kiraitu Murungi when he attended voter registration.

Uhuru addressed rallies in Igembe, Tigania and Imenti. Munya has been popularising his PNU and drumming up support for Uhuru.

Tigania East MP Mpuru Aburi urged Uhuru to disown PNU and Munya. He told residents to pull down any billboards advertising PNU and Uhuru as its preferred candidate and replace them with Jubilee Party billboards.

“We are with Deputy President William Ruto in 2022 and we don’t want Munya,” the MP said.

Senate Majority leader Kithure Kindiki said Meru is a Jubilee Party zone and the President should not allow leaders like Munya to become part of the government through the backdoor.

Kiraitu told Munya to join Jubilee Party and assured him of free and fair nominations.

He said Munya’s PNU will not win any seats in the county.

Uhuru urged youth in Meru to register as voters. He said there are more than half a million new IDs registered since 2013, a fact that can guarantee his victory in the elections.

Uhuru said if the youth register as voters they will help Jubilee win the county and national posts.

“All aspirants should respect the decisions of the people and accept to support those who win at the nominations.

We can get you other opportunities in government,” he said .

Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko urged Jubilee leaders in Meru to unite and popularise JP without entertaining propaganda that will divide the party.

He told leaders to emulate Jubilee leaders in Nairobi, who are working together ahead of the primaries.
