Last week, Vestas Wind Systems in conjucntion with the Danish Embassy, held a cocktail reception at the ambassador’s residence in Muthaiga, Nairobi.
The event was celebrating the Lake Turkana wind power project half time installation milestone. Supplying 365 wind turbines with a
capacity of 850 kW each, the project covers 162 km2 and will provide approximately 18 per cent of Kenya’s current installed electricity generating capacity.
In attendance were Energy & Petroleum PS Eng Joseph Njoroge, Dannish ambassador Mette Knudsen, Lake Turkana Wind Power deputy general manager Caroline Ongeri and Kenya Climate Innovation chief executive Edward Mungai.
