Cord leader Raila Odinga has planned a series of meetings with elders from Tharaka Nithi county on Wednesday.

Raila will be in the region to rally support for his presidential bid in the 2017 general election.

The ODM leader was in Laikipia on Tuesday where he addressed a joint rally with Amani leader Musalia Mudavadi.

The two announced that they will forge a super alliance to oust Jubilee from power when elections are called next year.

While Raila will be in Eastern, ODM deputy party leaders Wycliffe Oparanya (Kakamega governor) and Hassan Ali Joho (Mombasa) will grace the graduation ceremony of over 2,000 Maasai morans at Suswa in Narok county.

"They

will be joined by Governor Isaac Rutto and Senator Gideon Moi for a rally in Emurua Dikkir which will be hosted by area MP Johana Ng'eno," Philip Etale, ODM director communications, said in a dispatch to newsrooms on Wednesday.

ODM has been traversing in areas perceived to be Jubilee strongholds to marshal support ahead of the general election.

The visit comes when the county has reported a widening rift between two Jubilee camps.

Politicians in the area are jostling for elective seats ahead of the August 8 vote amid split over the location of the county's headquarters.

The differences have been intensified after Deputy President William Ruto suggested that the headquarters be moved to Chuka from Kathwana.

The latter is the gazetted headquarter of the county which is largely known for its large number of voters in Eastern.

During the DP's tour of the county last month, it also emerged that

Governor Samuel Ragwa's camp was not informed of the visit.

It was his rival and current Senator Kithure Kindiki who had the DP's itinerary.
