Businessman in Osewe shooting charged with attempted murder

A Nairobi businessman who allegedly shot the owner of Ranalo restaurant was charged with attempted murder at Makadara law courts on Monday.

Tom Mboya reportedly at Hagon fish restaurant near Roasters along Thika Superhighway.

He was arrested and disarmed that day after surrendering at Kasarani police station.

Prosecution counsel Lilian Moraa asked senior principal magistrate Angelo Kithinji to remand the suspect for 10 days pending investigations.

"The suspect is an influential businessman and may interfere with key witnesses before the investigations are completed," she said.

"The incident is of double shooting, is yet to be investigated and the victims of are still in hospital."

Mboya asked to be released on bond pending investigations but he was remanded for five days pending the completion of investigations.

The businessman is said to have drawn his Ceska pistol and fired three shots in rapid succession at Osewe.

Witnesses said two bullets hit Osewe's abdomen while the other one hurt his left leg.
