Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma has said his political opponents did not want him to address his constituents during the chaotic ODM rally last Sunday.

Kaluma was kicked, punched and wrestled to the ground by

Washington

Ogaga, who will vie for his seat in next year's general election.

He told the National Assembly on Tuesday that he survived death.

The MP argued on Thursday that his political enemies plotted to keep his from giving a speech, to show he had lost ground.

But Kaluma said the rivals, whom he did not name, used Ogaga to settle their scores.

"The truth is that Ogaga was just a scapegoat. Plans had been hatched for me to be humiliated in front of party leader Raila Odinga to show that I've remained a political imbecile," he said.

He addressed supporters at Sofia market in Homa Bay Town after being

charged with assault. He was granted Sh20,000 cash bail or Sh60,000 bond.

The legislator said he will continue holding peaceful rallies in preparation for the poll and will never bow

to his rivals trickery..

"We should not allow unnecessary political rivalry to thwart our aim of mobilising people to register largely as voters, as our leader instructed us," he said.

"My plans as area MP will remain within that mandate."

Deputy Governor Hamilton Orata underlined that ODM does not condone

hooliganism and was democratic.

"Nobody is a lesser member in this party. We all need to be together to ensure our leader wins the presidency," said Orata.

He said they will not give up efforts to unite the county's residents under the party and urged them to maintain peace as Kaluma battles the case.
