Justice Philomena Mwilu was on Friday sworn in at State House as Deputy Chief Justice and Justice Isaac Lenaola as Supreme Court judge.
President Uhuru Kenyatta congratulated the two for their appointments. He said he looks forward to working with the judiciary to serve Kenyans.
“I want to reiterate that at the end of the day, we serve the same people. Therefore, we need to complement each other in discharging our mandates. We are not in competition,” Uhuru said.
He assured the judiciary of his support to enable it to discharge its duties effectively. State officers who attended the ceremony included Chief Justice David Maraga, Attorney General Githu Muigai, Foreign Affairs CS Amina Mohamed, and Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua.
The swearing in was conducted by Chief Registrar of the judiciary Anne Amadi. Mwilu replaces retired Justice Kalpana Rawal, while Lenaola replaces retired Justice Philip Tunoi.
